We are already at our first meet of the season! For those of you new to swim team, we have some swim meet 101 information posted online in our parent handbook.
The meet event program has listed heat, lane and event number your children will swim. Most events have several heats. Many children will write the event info on their hands with Sharpie.
For those of you who are veterans, you will recall that in the days leading up to the meets we organize our team's volunteers so the meet will flow smoothly. The picture below shows (the blue arrow) the flow of kids at swim meets and the different jobs the parents need to play to have the kids (and meet) flow smoothly. The jobs are explained in more detail online here.
Parents are an essential part of running a meet. Admiral Heights Swim Team needs parents to volunteer for a position if your child is swimming.
A couple positions are still available for the meet at the Downs tomorrow. Sign me up, I want to help.
Other helpful meet info:
The Concession stand will be available at the meet. They will have lots of items your kids will want. You will need to have cash for this if you want to make use of the concession stand.
How long will this last is a common question- Our warm ups begin at 7:55 and the meet will begin by 8:30. Small meets end between 10:30 and 11:30 and larger meets may last until possibly as late as 1:00.
Ribbons- Heat winners are handed a ribbon at the end of each heat. Other ribbons are handed out at the next practice.
Caps and Suits- A suit or cap containing another team logo may not be worn.
Please email me if you have questions or suggestions. See you in the morning!
