Took the tiny rockstar to this graffiti wall one evening after work just to take pictures and do what we do. I took like 30 shots before my camera died. Most were of Chloe but some were just your basic gritty shots. No tripod and no self portraits. So as we're leaving, the cops rolled up like I was in serious trouble. After speaking to me for like 30 seconds he realized everything was cool and just took a police report. He told me someone called the police on me. I guess this person saw me taking pictures of my 7-year old daughter at a somewhat urban/gritty location and decided it warranted a 911 call. Keep in mind this area is immensely populated. It has a continuous flow of traffic right within viewing distance. There is a rental car place there too and there was a karate class in session in another small building. The only thing that really makes it "urban" is the one wall that you see in the background. Questions: 1. How would you react to something like this? 2. Would you be angry, embarrassed, or just perfectly okay with it? 3. Have you ever called the cops on a guy that looks like me taking pictures of his kid in an area described above? Or do you think you would? (I can already hear the jokes rollin in on this one haha). I just cooperated with the whole thing. Although if he asked to see my pictures I would have told him to get fucked. Not because there is anything bad on there. But more accurately because that would be a fundamental violation of my privacy and rights as a citizen of this country. I feel really strongly about upholding those values even when I have nothing to hide. Anyway, all things considered, I doubt I personally would call the cops if put in the same situation. Although I can see why they did. Hell with the places I go and the pictures I take, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Camera: Zero 2000 Pinhole Film: Ilford Delta 400 Exposure Time: 4 seconds Location: Pacific City, Oregon Pacific City, Oregon won my heart the minute my wife and I stepped out of our car last summer. Within the hour or so we spent sipping beers and enjoying our lunch on the beach front patio of the Pelican Pub Brewery we knew we had to return. If we only knew what a gem this little town was we would have planned to stay longer, but luck have it we where able to convince my entire family to spend three nights here this summer. Although it was the brewery that originally brought us to Pacific City (I’ll drive anywhere to check out a brewery) what brought us back was Cape Kiwanda State Park with its sandstone bluffs and dunes. This rugged beachside landscape practically begs you to explore its hidden wonders, but don’t full yourself that 500 foot high dune is much harder to climb than it looks. We made the mistake of tackling it midday with the sun beating down on the sand making it extremely hot to the touch. Reaching the summit is well worth it though and I highly recommend it to anyone ready and able. Pacific City is the type of place I could easily visit time and again. Placing it high on my list of favorite places along the coast, up there with Kalaloch in the Olympic National Park a place I personally consider my favorite place on earth (granted I’ve seen a very limited amount of this planet). A quick note about the composition of this photo. That shell was not found along the beach, in fact I am not even sure a shell like that could be found on a Pacific Northwest beach. It was in a bowl of shells on a table in our vacation rental. A prime example how a little added ‘flare’ can make all the difference in a photograph.
