Sparkling Lemonade

1 c. cold water

1 c. granulated sugar

1 c. freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 1/2 pints sparkling water

Put the cold water in a medium sized pan with 3/4 c. of the sugar.  Bring to a boil and then simmer for 3 minutes.  Add the lemon juice and reheat briefly.  Taste and add the remaining sugar, if desired.

Allow to cool.

When cold, pour the syrup into a pitcher and add the sparkling water. Chill before serving.
