Adare Lift U16A Shield

Adare 7-4 St Ailbe 5-6

Adare Ladies Football Team emerged victorious against a strong St Ailbe’s
side in an exciting and sporting U16 A Shield League Final in St Patricks
GAA Club, last night (Monday). Adare won the toss and had wind advantage.
Adare opened brightly with a point from Lauren Ryan followed by a goal.
However, St Ailbe's made light of the conditions to ensure that both sides
were level at Half time on 2-2 each. The second half flowed from end to end
with both side dominating for periods. A battling performance against the
wind saw Adare built up a 5 point lead which St Ailbe’s chipped away at to
leave the minimum between the teams with a few minutes left. Adare got a
late goal through Aoife Molyneaux to ensure that they emerged as 4 point
winners. No doubt both sides will meet again in the championship and with
very little between the sides, another close encounter can be expected.

Adare Scorers : Lauren Ryan 2-2, Hazel Alfred 2-0, Sive O Halloran 1-0,
Julianne Grehan 1-0, Aoife Molyneaux 1-0 Kate O Farrelly 0-1.

REGISTRATION AND AWARDS NIGHT

posted 31 Mar 2015, 07:07 by john Doe

The Club held a very successful Registration Night on Sunday 22 March and registered large numbers of players at all levels – U8 / U10 / U12 / U14 / U16 / Minor and Adult Junior. Any players still interested in registering can contact us via adarelgfc@gmail.com .

Our U8 and U10 squads were presented with hats in the team colours, while our other teams – U12 / U14 / U16 / Minor – were presented with the medals won by them during the 2014 Season.

Our Player of the Year Awards for 2014 went to Faye Morgan (U12), Gillian O’Donnell (U14), Aine Tagney (U16) and Kate Geary (Minor).

A special presentation was made to three members of the Adare Club who were part of the Limerick All Ireland Winning U14C Ladies Football team. Noirin Lenihan, Sive O’Halloran and Lauren Ryan (Captain of the Limerick team) all received special awards on the night.

Padraig Ryan, Incoming Chairman, thanked Barry O’Halloran and Eithne O’Riordan for their many hard years of work as they retired from the Officer Board of the Club. They will, however, remain active in the Club and team management.

Peter Sheehan – Chairman of Limerick Ladies Football – took the time to attend our Awards Ceremony and offered a few words of wisdom to us all which were appreciated

Thank you to Wayne McNamara who stepped in at the last minute to present our awards and to Stephen Lavin who was detained in traffic en route to the event.

The event was very kindly sponsored – as it has been for many years – by the Woodlands House Hotel who provided the players with a hot meal and the adults with tea, coffee and sandwiches. A big thank you to the Fitzgerald family.
