Adam S. Harris
I am a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Governance and Local Development (GLD) program at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. I received my PhD from the Wilf Family Department of Politics at New York University (2015). I study ethnic and African politics with a focus on political participation using experimental and survey methods. I am primarily interested in the role ethnic identities play in predicting within-ethnic group preference variation. My dissertation uses a continuous conceptualization and measurement of ethnicity, ethnic proximity, to predict the political preferences of Coloured South Africans. In addition to this main research agenda, I also study race politics, prejudice/discrimination, ethnic conflict, and development.
