Volunteer Projects

From time to time we will have projects whereby we may request volunteers.  The project dates/times will be posted to our calendar.  We will also post them to our Facebook group page.  And we will also Tweet the information and lead people to this new page on our website.
Please consider volunteering for any of the projects listed below.

We are volunteering our time going to several of the local Adams County grave yards to take photos of headstones, research Find-A-Grave to see if the person has been added onto their system, add them and the headstone photo.  We then check for memorial or death notices to add to the posting.  Vanessa Pacheco is our board Genealogist leading this effort.
If you have any questions, please contact Vanessa at acgsgenealogy@gmail.com.

Lynne Barber - Grand Rapids, MI

Update 1/9/15
Lynne has decided to have Vanessa look for death certificates for her two aunts Edith and Harriet Carl - and possible records for a child born to Harriet & James Edward Carl.
In addition to finding a death certificate last month for Lynne Barber's great grandfather James Forest Carl, Vanessa obtained quite lengthy probate records concerning Mr. Carl's land in Brighton.  His land was passed to his daughter Almeda Lillian (Carl) Drake and she proceeded to sell/lease his land in pieces.

Vanessa also made it to the Clerk & Recorders office where she found 35 pages of sale records for that land under both Mr. Carl's and Mrs. Drakes names.

With all of the success Vanessa encountered, Ms. Barber is considering expanding her search.  She is now looking to obtain records regarding her aunt Harriet Carl (possibly others,) specific death records.
She is thrilled with everything that has been found so far!  Check out her letter attached at the bottom of this page.

Charlie Powers

Obituary search for Lena Gherring buried in Elmwood Cemetery (listed on Find-A-Grave Memorial #36285683).  She is listed as being buried in both CO and NE.  Obituaries have been found in both the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News and now confirms the burial in Elmwood Cemetery here in CO.
NOTE:  The Steven G. Hart Library in the Colorado History Center has the Brighton Blade on microfilm from 1903 to 1990!
