I currently hold my Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, with a minor study of Criminal Justice. I studied Classical Saxophone Performance at Texas State for four semesters under the direction of two excellent saxophone instructors. College inspired me to perform my saxophone professionally and tutor saxophone lessons. Composing is my other passion, and I compose music for a filmmaker I've known since high school. I am currently a member of the Hill Country Community Band in Wimberley, Texas.
I have perfect pitch hearing in music, which made it easier for me to start learning music as a child. I started composing music at an early age and ended up learning many instruments, which include the harmonica, soprano recorder and saxophone. My secondary instruments are the piano, bass clarinet and some percussion. I have also experimented with the violin and some brass instruments, such as the trumpet and trombone. I started playing the saxophone in the sixth grade and continued through college, winning many awards. I ranked at the state level in high school with a solo that I performed. I also performed in the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA) 5A Region XII Concert Band my sophomore, junior and senior years of high school on alto saxophone. This was a huge accomplishment in Seguin High School band history, since no other saxophonist in Seguin band history had ever made this band!
I performed in Texas State's concert band, marching band, men's choir, and saxophone quartet, along with my SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) and men's church choir. I composed for my church's men's choir and made recordings. I have had many live performances of my music. I am a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). I was a member of NACUSA for one year, a member of the Texas Music Educator's Association for one year and a member of the Texas State Alumni Association for one year.
