Reg VI, Ins 1 lies along the northern boundary of Regio VI between the Vico di Narciso to the east and the Via Consolare to the west. Its southern side faces onto the Vico di Mercurio.
of its situation next to one of Pompeii's major gates, the insula
contains a variety of shops and inns. The insula contains only three
houses, the House of the Triclinium, the sprawling House of the Vestals
and the House of the Surgeon, which is examined here in more detail.
