General Description

House of the Moralist House of Pinarius Cerialis Reg III, Ins 4 lies along the southern edge of Regio III, on the north side of the Via dell'Abbondanza.
As with Insula 2, little is known of the properties in the insula as most of it still lies buried under metres of volcanic debris.

Of the properties unearthed to date, only two properties, the House of the Moralist and the House of Pinarius Cerialis have been completely cleared. Both these house are of interest in their own way, and both are examined here in more detail.
