Regio III


Regio III occupies the north-eastern sector of Pompeii, bounded to the south by the Via dell'Abbondanza and to the north by the Via di Nola.

Regio III remains to a large extent unexcavated, as denoted by the
dull green shading on the plan below. Of the 12 partly excavated insulae in the area, insulae 2 and 4 contain properties of particular interest and are examined here in more detail. The area so far unearthed is a general mix of commercial and domestic properties.
