General Description

House of the Cryptoporticus House of the Lararium Fullonica of Stephani House of P. Casca Longus House of the Ceii Reg I, Ins 6 lies on the south side of the Via dell'Abbondanza immediately to the east of Insula 4.
The insula contains mostly domestic properties as shown in the detailed list below.

The properites include the House of the Cryptoporticus, the House of the Lararium and the House of the Ceii. The insula also contains a well preserved example of a working laundry, the Fullonica of Stephanus described under the section 'Shops and Businesses'.

11 House of P. Casca Longus 496 16 Typical atrium/garden house plan. Atrium. Tablinum. Third style decoration throughout including, in the atrium, small panels with theatrical themes on a blue background. Open garden area to rear. Furniture, bronze, silver, glass and ceramic vessels. Linked via garden with No.8-9.
12 Taberna of Lunianus 56 2 Taberna with back room. Third sytle decoration in back room.
House of Stallius Eros 271 13 Fairly typical atrium/garden plan. Atrium. Tablinum with garden area to rear. Lararium. Little surviving fourth style decoration. Semi-ruinous. Stairs up at No.14.
House of the Ceii 288 10 Standard atrium/garden plan. Facade of opus quadratum. Atrium with stairs up. Tablinum. Triclinium. Garden to rear. Fourth style decoration throughout. Lamps, vessels, scales, shears.
