Insula oI

General Description

Insula oI lies to the east of Cardo V, bounded on its eastern side by unexcavated material and to the north by a narrow lane separating it from Insula oII, as indicated in the schematic. Its southern extremity overlooks the Suburban Baths.

Only part of the insula has been excavated to date, although earlier tunnelling has provided additional information about its extent and layout. The two main properties in this insula are the House of the Gem and the House of the Relief of Telephus.
