The Salvage Shop

Do you know about The Salvage Shop?

The Salvage Shop is a program of Knox Heritage, accepting donated historic building materials to prevent these valuable items from going to the landfill.  These items are re-sold to benefit Knox Heritage.  The Salvage Shop's inventory is stocked with items to help restore historic homes or serve as the base materials for new projects.  Check out their website at

For our April membership meeting, we have the opportunity to tour The Salvage Shop, see the treasures that are there, and find out what opportunities there might be for any interested ACW members.  Come join us at 619 N. Broadway in Knoxville at noon on Wednesday, April 11.   Please park across the street from The Salvage Shop.

But that's not all!  After our tour of The Salvage Shop, we will move just down the road to 745 N. Broadway and have lunch at Elkmont Exchange, brewery and eating house -  Elkmont Exchange is a uniquely familiar dining experience that encourages guests to come together as a community and celebrate East Tennessee.

Our golf tournaments are the reason we could offer this scholarship to Lila Fisher, the 2016-17 recipient.  Read a little more about this year's tournament on our Events page.

Scholarship Winners Announced!!

Congratulations to Jessica Denton!  Jessica is the recipient of the Pellissippi State Associated Construction Women Scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year.  With support from this scholarship, she will earn her Associate's in Interior Design from Pellissippi State.  That degree will propel her toward another goal of earning a bachelor's degree from ETSU and becoming an Interior Architect.    The ladies of ACW applaud Jessica and are excited for what the future holds for her.

Lila Fisher, a senior studying civil engineering, is the 2016-17 recipient of the Associated Construction Women Endowed Scholarship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Department of Engineering.

Lila completed a co-op at EMJ Corporation in Chattanooga, working primarily in the construction department with some estimating assignments.  During her co-op with EMJ Corporation, Lila also had responsibilities related to assisting project managers, project engineers, and estimators.  Lila reported that the most valuable benefit she received during her co-op assignment was "seeing the construction side of engineering and working with skilled people."

Currently, Lila is serving as the Team Leader for her senior design group project.

Congratulations, Lila, from the ladies of Associated Construction Women!
