"Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:
as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you."  (John 20:21KJV)

Our Outreach Committee prayerfully works to offer faithful & faith-filled opportunities to help others in the name of Jesus.  Here are just a few examples of the mission projects and collections we engage in throughout the year.

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering (OGHS) - This is an annual offering collected throughout our sister churches in the United Church of Christ.  The funds collected go to provide support in places of great need and in times of great tragedy and natural disasters.  OGHS provides clean water, food, medicines, shelter, healthcare and other disaster relief in the United States as well as internationally.  www.ucc.org/oghs

Amigos program - we collect funds with our sister churches in the York Association to go towards feeding school children in Honduras.  We have a relationship of fellowship and caring with churches in Honduras and frequently engage in mission exchange projects with them.

Each year we have individuals who participate through "Guatemala Grace" in Medical Mission Trips to Guatemala.  This year's trip is April 9-17, 2015.  Please contact Rev. Melissa Marquis if you are interested in joining us and visit http://guatemalagrace.org/ for more information.

We participate in the shoe box mission for Operation Christmas Child http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/.

Our "Communities Care" Day held on Columbus Day every year.  We join with 6 other area churches at North Parish in Sanford and help host a day of service where all in need can come for a free breakfast & lunch, haircuts, foot checks, free store and take part in a number of other helpful services.  Last year we had 293 guests, 181 adults and 112 children and 70 volunteers from all the churches took part in this special day.  Prior to this day we collect the below items to give in our free store.
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Toiletries
  • Blankets

Thanksgiving bags for the Acton Food Pantry - Grocery bags are distributed with a list of needed items for a "Bag of Blessing" and are brought to worship the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  Items in the "Bag of Blessing"  are to include one or two of each item:
            • Canned Yams or Sweet Potatoes
            • Stuffing Mix
            • Cranberry Sauce
            • Quick Bread Mix
            • Olives - Pickles
            • Canned Pumpkin
Food Collection for the Acton School Backpack Program
This is for children with food insecurity at home on the weekends.  We collect the below items which are typically included in each delivery, as they are all items each child could prepare by his/her self if need be.
  • Box Cereal
  • Box Crackers
  • Boxed macaroni & cheese
  • Ramen noodles
  • Canned soup
  •  Canned Chef Boyardee-type pasta dinners
  • Applesauce cups
  • Fruit Cups
  • Granola Bars
  • Cereal Bars (like Nutrigrain)
  • Plastic bottles of jelly (so they are not breakable)
  • Jars of Peanut Butter

In December our Mitten Tree gift donations go to support the children of the Acton School Backpack Program.
