John Kelly, Ph.D.
Dr. John Kelly is a school/child clinical psychologist, with 24 years of experience working with children and adolescents in schools and clinical settings. He is a nationally recognized expert on social and emotional development and has helped New York State design guidelines to infuse social and emotional development learning into kindergarten through twelfth grade curriculum. He has created and developed numerous programs to address the social and emotional needs of young people. He is a Past-President of the New York Association of School Psychologists, Chairperson of the National Association of School Psychologists' Government and Professional Relations Committee, and on the Executive Board of the New York State Psychological Association and Suffolk County Psychological Association.
John is a former high school athlete, who played baseball and hockey when he was younger. He has continued his passion for physical activity as an adult and is involved in numerous outdoor activities, including running, kayaking, and skiing. John understands the “mental” aspects of physical fitness and often incorporates these into his clinical work. John is involved in coaching youth sports, helping young children develop an enjoyment and passion for physical activity.
