Because this research project is tied to the University's deadlines for semester break, which is incongruous with CFHS's school year, I am unable to include my students' final portfolios in my analysis for this project. Instead, I have assessed their progress through student interviews and through reviewing their portfolios-in-progress as they have developed since first semester. Click here to see the data.
I used my students' responses to survey questions to assess whether their attitudes toward the writing process became more positive as a result of my instructional plan. I also wanted to see whether they perceived any changes to their habits as writers throughout the year.
In addition to asking students the same survey questions as I did prior to implementing instructional strategies, I asked them which classroom experiences they found to be most and least helpful in improving their writing process and in developing their confidence as writers.
