Sebastian Acosta, PhD

Welcome to my website !

My name is Sebastian Acosta. I work as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital (see my BCM Profile). I am working on: 

1. Data Analytics: Advanced mathematical and statistical models, machine-learning, deep-learning and signal processing for data-driven projects. Optimization methods for prediction, planning, scheduling, and decision-making problems. Model creation, validation, deployment, and interpretation.

2. System Identification: Mathematical, statistical and numerical methods for inverse problems in acoustics, elastodynamics, radiative transfer and electromagnetics. Parameter identification and optimal control problems.

I earned a PhD degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Rice University (2014). My adviser was Professor Liliana Borcea. I also earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering (2009) and MS in Mathematics (2011) from Brigham Young University.
