Educational Achievements

  • He stood 16th in the SSC Board winning the 1st prizes in Mathematics & Arithmetic in the whole State.
  • He stood 1st in the University with 1st prizes in Mathematics and Statistics in the whole University.
  • He has been a National Merit Scholar throughout his career.
  • He completed B.Tech (Chem Engg) in 1972 from IIT Mumbai.
  • He scored 100% marks in Mathematics almost in all examinations from 1st std. to IIT.

Professional Achievements

  • He has 32+ years of software development experience in India, USA and UK in companies like IBM, Systime (UK), Patni, Syntel, L&T InfoTech etc.
  • He has been awarded 2 times by IBM World Trade Corporation for performance excellence.
  • He was instrumental in designing an ERP package in the UK, and implementing it in many companies in Holland, UK and Germany.
  • He has contributed to building of companies such as Patni (GM) from the strength of 20 to 1000, Syntel (Managing Director) from 30 to 1000, L&T Infotech(CEO) from 400 to 2000, Apar Technologies (CEO) from 20 to 600 and Disha Technologies (Executive Director) from the strength of 200 to 450. All these companies grew many times in terms of revenue and profitability during his tenure.
  • Currently, he is the Managing Director of ‘Softexcel Consultancy Services' advising global companies about strategies of growth and setting up of delivery organizations and processes for offshore centers for excellent performance.

Contribution to Technical Education

  • He has written technical books on: ‘Operating Systems’, ‘Data Communications and Networks’ and ‘Web Technologies’ all published by McGraw-Hill (India). Some of these have been published in Singapore by McGraw-Hill for international distribution and have been translated in different languages like Chinese. Most of these books are used as text and reference books all over the world and are available on Amazon.com.
  • He is an advisor to Mumbai University and several Colleges/ Universities and IT publications.

General Interests and Contributions

  • He has authored 6 books in Marathi. His books ‘Sanganakyug’ (on computers), ‘Boardroom’ (on Management), ‘Nadvedh’ (on Music), ‘Kimayagar’ (on Science), Arthat’ (on Economics)’ and ‘Gulam’ (on slavery), ‘Thaiman Changalvadache’ (Psychology) have been extremely popular and most of them have run into 5 to 10 editions each. He has 10 more projects in his mind.
  • His columns ‘Zapoorza’ (on English literature),Tantra-Mantra’ (on latest technology), ‘Bakhar Sangankachi’ (on history of computers), ‘Udyache jag (about tomorrow’s world)’, ‘Vaidyakayan’ (on history of medicine), ‘Pranimatra’ (about animals), and ‘Vidnyanvad’ (about science) have been immensely popular.
  • He has keen interest in Music, Literature, Economics, Science, Management and psychology apart from Information Technology.

Awards

  • He was awarded a very prestigious ‘Distinguished Aluminus’ by IIT in the year 2000 for his contribution to Information Technology and Education. This is given every year for some significant contribution to multiple fields to only about 7-8 people amongst tens of thousands who have passed out of IITs in the past decades .
  • He was awarded ‘Udyogratna’ by Indian Economic Council for his contribution to Information Technology Industry.
  • He was awarded twice by the prime minister for excellent performance of his company in software exports.
  • He has been awarded ‘Kumar Gandharva Award' by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi for his contribution to music & computers
  • His books ‘Nadvedh’ and ‘Kimayagar’ and ‘Arthat' have recevied many awards, including the ones given by the Maharashtra State.
  • He has been awarded ‘Sahyadri Navratna Award’ by Sahyadri Channel for the year 2007 for contribution to 'IT business, education and research'.
  • He has received ‘Indradhanu’ award for exemplary contribution in many fields.
  • He has received Dr. Parnerkar Award for the contribution in Economics.
  • Has Received C.D. Deshmukh Award for his contribution in the field of Economics by State Government of Maharashtra.

General

  • He has traveled all over the globe more than 150 times for the business of Information Technology, addressing various seminars or negotiating large contracts.
  • He has conducted more than 100 programmes on the Television for educating people in Information Technology, Music and Management in simple language.
  • He has a collection of about 4000 books in his personal library and 2000 CDs/cassettes with music from 18 countries.

Social Work

  • He has contributed in building ‘Ashiana’ - a school for mentally challenged children with about 40 autistic children at Andheri (Mumbai) since Sept.1999. He plans to expand this school to a strength of at least 100 and start many such schools in all the districts of Maharashtra.
  • He worked with Bhil adivasis at Shahada Taluka, Dhulia District ( Maharashtra) in the year 1972-73 for their social upliftment and for the fight against their oppression. The work also involved their education about health and hygiene. It also involved participation in the fight against alcoholism and in spreading awareness about equality amongst various castes and classes.
