Vertical Jet Pump

vertical jet pump
    jet pump
  • An eductor-jet pump or jet pump is a type of pump where the energy from one fluid (liquid or gas) is transferred to another fluid via the Venturi effect. As the fluid passes through a tapered jet, kinetic energy increases and pressure decreases drawing fluid from the suction into the flow stream.
  • a jet pump is a commonly available residential water supply pump. It has an interesting clever design that can lift water from a well (up to 25 feet) and allow it to function without a check valve on the suction and furthermore does not require priming.
  • Used in spas to provide additional thrust into the hydrotherapy jets.
  • at right angles to the plane of the horizon or a base line; "a vertical camera angle"; "the monument consists of two vertical pillars supporting a horizontal slab"; "measure the perpendicular height"
  • The distance between the highest and lowest points of a ski area
  • A vertical line or plane
  • An upright structure
  • relating to or involving all stages of a business from production to distribution
  • something that is oriented vertically

Fountains of Peterhof - Wiew of the Fontain Avenue and the pool of the Great Cascade (1715)
Fountains of Peterhof - Wiew of the Fontain Avenue and the pool of the Great Cascade (1715)
The Peterhof Palace is actually a series of palaces and gardens located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, laid out on the orders of Peter the Great. These Palaces and gardens are sometimes referred as the "Russian Versailles". The palace-ensemble along with the city centre is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Grand Cascade is modelled on one constructed for Louis XIV at his Chateau de Marly, which is likewise memorialised in one of the park's outbuildings. At the centre of the cascade is an artificial grotto with two stories, faced inside and out with hewn brown stone. It currently contains a modest museum of the fountains' history. One of the exhibits is a table carrying a bowl of (artificial) fruit, a replica of a similar table built under Peter's direction. The table is rigged with jets of water that soak visitors when they reach for the fruit, a feature from Mannerist gardens that remained popular in Germany. The grotto is connected to the palace above and behind by a hidden corridor. The fountains of the Grand Cascade are located below the grotto and on either side of it. Their waters flow into a semicircular pool, the terminus of the fountain-lined Sea Channel. In the 1730s, the large Samson Fountain was placed in this pool. It depicts the moment when Samson tears open the jaws of a lion, representing Russia's victory over Sweden in the Great Northern War, and is doubly symbolic. The lion is an element of the Swedish coat of arms, and one of the great victories of the war was won on St Samson's Day. From the lion's mouth shoots a 20-metre-high vertical jet of water, the highest in all of Peterhof. This masterpiece by Mikhail Kozlovsky was looted by the invading Germans during the Second World War; see History below. A replica of the statue was installed in 1947.Perhaps the greatest technological achievement of Peterhof is that all of the fountains operate without the use of pumps. Water is supplied from natural springs and collects in reservoirs in the Upper Gardens. The elevation difference creates the pressure that drives most of the fountains of the Lower Gardens, including the Grand Cascade. The Samson Fountain is supplied by a special aqueduct, over four km in length, drawing water and pressure from a high-elevation source. Font : Wikipedia
Jacuzzi 2
Jacuzzi 2
A whirlpool is a tub fitted with piping, an electric pump and water jets. The pump circulates the water through the pipes using an underwater suction fitting and several underwater jets. Each jet contains a venturi, a vented constriction near its opening that injects air into the water. In most cases, the ratio of air to water can be adjusted--at a central control, at each jet or both sites. In 1968, Roy Jacuzzi invented and marketed the first self-contained, fully integrated whirlpool bath by incorporating jets into the sides of the tub. Jacuzzi ® is the trademarked name for the invention. The Jacuzzi trademark is shown in both the Oxford and Webster's dictionaries, recognizing Jacuzzi as the inventor of the whirlpool bath. The Jacuzzi Bros. introduce their Whirlpool bath at California's Orange County Fair. In addition to the first whirlpool bath patent. The Jacuzzi Company has 250 world wide patents for advancements in pump systems, jet technology, air controls and product design. The history of the Jacuzzi company begins in the early 1900s when the Jacuzzi brothers immigrated to California from Italy. The brothers invented the first enclosed cabin, high-wing monoplane, which carried mail for the U.S. postal service as well as passengers. The inventor brothers later made great advancements in the agricultural pump industry and of course in the whirlpool bath industry.
