Right out of high school I went to Oklahoma to attend college at Oral Roberts University, then the last 2 years at University of Tulsa. During that time, I came home during summers, took a year off, and buried my Mom in West Hills Cemetary. Graduated with a degree in Sociology and minored in Psychology. Returned to Yakima, worked in Social Services for a year, then met my husband, Steve Smith, at the time a Special Education Teacher. We moved to Westport/Aberdeen and I continued with Social Services Planning, then ran a non-profit organization for about 12 years in Aberdeen. My husband was hired as an administrator in Snohomish, Washington and we moved, lock-stock-barrel-kids(2) and dog (1) up to Marysville. Throughout this time, believe it or not, we were very active in sports (racquetball and volleyball) ourselves. When the kids got old enough (gosh, were they 3?), Steve coached baseball, softball, basketball, soccer for both. I volunteered as a Board member for Little League, Soccer, etc. In Snohomish County, I got my real estate license in 1989 and have been a Realtor since. Natural fit for me, I'm the daughter of a builder, and this occupation has given me many, many opportunities to help people, watch my kids grow up and play their various sports, and yeay...we no longer live in the rain forest.
