September 13, 2009: So we're back in Hawaii. The second half of our Vegas trip was very different from the first half! A few of these differences included the Trump Hotel, W|W meetings, dinner with the W|W Pittsburghers, and sightseeing in the Downtown area. The 240 degree view of the Strip from our Trump suite was definitely sweet, as was watching T.I.'s fireworks and the Bellagio water show from the jacuzzi in our bathroom. While Scott was in his W|W meetings (and looking quite handsome in his new business suit), I was sleeping in or watching TV on one of the 3 TVs in our room or prowling for Bombay Sapphire/tonic water/cranberry juice. Yes, our dinners at Joe's and Switch were totally amazing. I loved everything I tried, from the stone crab to the havana cream pie at Joe's, and the eggplant ratatouille at Switch was onolicious as well. Moreover, I definitely gained respect for the Fantasy Football season. We hope to catch on by the time Wicked Cricket season rolls around so we can start smack-talking with the best of them. We were craving saimin by our third day in Vegas. Usually we'll bring up a package or two of dried ramen but forgot this trip. So we stopped by a Chinese restaurant in the Harrah's and ordered Won Tun soup (forgot to request Mein) but that did not satisfy. So on our last day in Vegas, Scott took me to Downtown to the California to Aloha Specialities for saimin. Saimin, not package ramen. Saimin, like the kind you get at Zippy's. The saimin hit the spot and we knew it was time to head home already. It's nice getting back just in time for Friday. Short work/school week and the weekend is right there waiting. Not that we did much this weekend but unwind a bit. We spent today together, me in one room studying and he in another room uploading photos. This week's cooking theme: We went grocery shopping fast kind on Friday for some essentials, eggs, tonic water, Hawaiian Sun iced tea, toilet paper, batteries. Just enough for a simple egg/vienna sausage scramble one night and kimchi fried rice tonight. We will do some real grocery shopping soon so we can spend more time in the kitchen this week. That is, unless Du Vin is in our near future... This photo was shot from the window box of our jacuzzi tub at the Trump Hotel. As you can see, it has an awesome view of the strip. Well, maybe you could get a better sense if Scott's knee wasn't in the damn way. Shooting this took forever. First, Scott didn't have a tripod so we had to precariously stack trash cans and telephone books onto a bar stool and pray it didn't fall down. Second, exposure and focus for this shot is not easy. Not easy at all... Nice, we never had to fill up gas this week! (L)

Las Vegas (Spanish for The Meadows) is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada, the seat of Clark County, and an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment. Las Vegas, which bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, is famous for the number of casino resorts and associated entertainment. The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. Outdoor lighting displays are everywhere on the Las Vegas Strip and are seen elsewhere in the city as well. As seen from space, the Las Vegas metropolitan area is the brightest on Earth.
