Day 83 Disneyland
Day 83 Disneyland
Well, we got to the park right after seven, but so did a lot of other people! Peter Pan was first on the list, and the line was already 13 minutes long! Wow! Dumbo was down, so I suggested we go to Alice in Wonderland next, but my mom had a suggestion of her own. When they've gone to Disneyland before, they've gotten a special assistance pass for Michael and Rose, who rides in a wheelchair most of the day. The last time they went, Guest Services wouldn't issue a pass for Michael and Joe, just Rosie, but my mom thought she would try anyway. It would certainly make our day easier! And it would throw my "plans" right out the window! Sure enough, my mom got a pass, and we were able to use the "alternate entrance" for every ride. This cut our wait time for every ride to just a few minutes. I felt a little guilty, like we were cutting in line, but then I figure this is Karma for dealing with Michael on a daily basis! So we were freed up from having to stick to the plan, but then we had some trouble with the "I dunno, what you wanna do?" syndrome by midday. By then we were ready for a break, so we did lunch. Soon after, Maggie fell asleep, so my mom and Marjorie sat with the kids while Michael, Kat, Joe, and I went on Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain. We all headed back to the hotel where Carter napped, Joe, Maggie and I went swimming, and everyone else rested. Later, Marjorie went out to dinner with her friend, and the rest of us walked over to Downtown Disney in search of some food. We brought salads and pasta back to the room with us. My mom offered to put the kids to bed while Joe, Kat, Michael, and I went back to the park. We decided to go to California Adventure this time to ride some of the big rides while the kids weren't with us. We ran into some difficulty though, because a lot of the best rides close for their World of Color show. We ended up dragging ourselves back to the hotel by nine, where the kids were already fast asleep, and we weren't far behind!

Please view large on black by hitting the "L" key for full effect. I was a bit exhausted when I took this shot as earlier in the evening I had set off on foot to try to reach the the Tower Bridge from County Hall after finding out that the underground was closed at Tower Hill. I only made it to the London Bridge before nearly collapsing, and was more than a bit disappointed to learn that I had left my metro card back at the hotel, so I had to hoof it all the way back. For someone as out of shape as I am, I was on my last legs as I arrived gasping for air a couple hours later. Even though I was wiped out, I knew I had to try this shot during blue hour as I had seen several shots of it on flickr and it was right up the street from the hotel. Coming from California, it took me awhile to get used to having daylight left in the sky at 10:30 PM. I'll be posting quite a few shots over the next couple of months from our two week mad dash through Europe during which we visited London, Windsor, Bath, Stonehenge, Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh, Inverness, Amsterdam, Zurich, Lichtenstein, Heiligenblut, Hallstatt, Salzburg, Paris, and finally the Disneyland Resort in Paris. It was a rather insane schedule, and my kids weren't thrilled about having to get up at 4 AM to catch our train from time to time, but we managed to hit almost all of the items on our list. We did, however, miss an afternoon in the Scottish highlands after I burned a clutch out while trying to deal with driving on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right while shifting with my left hand, but I'll leave that story until later. The good folks of the fire brigade were very kind. Good times... At any rate, thanks for looking, and please feel free to check back as I'll be posting more shots of our trip over the coming weeks. :) (Explored at #12 on 7/6/11. Thanks for the views, faves, and comments. :) )
