Experimenting with new Canon EF 2X II Extender. Hard to use at first...but I am getting it. Very hard to handhold...as the extra weight makes me tremble. And I am dealing with a softening of the focus that comes with this extender on my 70-200 mm 2.8, but I think I can do this. This is still shooting through double-paned glass. I had a problem with exposure... worked in Program mode...with EC until I understood how the lens would perform. ISO 500, 1/400, f/7.1 200mm I finally figured out that the shutter speed reciprocal of the lens had to be twice as fast as normal. Duh! And the ISO had to be bumped to hold the speed. I am now off to pick up my macro lens. Cheers!

The Hatch extender has a support at the hook and a bend that allows the extender to mate with the rear hatch. We now can close the rear hatch without having to look and feel to line things up. The purpose of the little block of wood -- and the little aluminum angle piece that helps secure it -- is to keep the extender up off the bumper and in near perfect alignment to catch the hatch latch. The diameter of the head of the tapered bolt was a little big and needed to be filed a bit smaller to fit the latch.
