Firm presents ACC with report on condition of building and estimate for future repairs

AVON, January 9, 2017 -- Architectural Preservation Studio, hired by the Avon Congregational Church (ACC) to perform a comprehensive conditions assessment of the original sanctuary building, has presented the results of their study

The study provides the ACC with a comprehensive assessment of the original sanctuary building and based upon this assessment presented recommendations and cost estimates for necessary stabilization, repair of this important structure. The report includes history, research, existing conditions, deficiency and deterioration findings, repair recommendations, a phased action plan and a budget estimate for implementing the recommendations. 

Architectural Preservation Studio, a New York City-based architectural and preservation firm conducted research, gathered survey information, identified deficiencies, determined the recommendations for continued use and maintenance of this facility. Architectural Preservation Studio has expertise in materials conservation, building maintenance, repairs and restoration, conditions assessment, space programming, and the design and administration of repairs for both historic and contemporary structures. 

The report and study is 19 pages. The remaining pages of the report includes numerous photos of the facility.

Monday, July 11, 2016 - Now as never before viewed, and as the first church in the region to use such cutting edge technology, a virtual walking tour is available for our historic church and meeting house. Preview it here, now!

You can also view the tour as it appears on Google Maps using the link that follows or with the dark patch on the view above. Click it to be transported there. On the Google Maps page, click the picture of the church to start the virtual tour. To navigate through the tour, just click the chevron style arrows that appears with each tour point. To have a look around, click on the photo and drag left, right, up or down. You can also zoom in or out with your mouse roller. Caution: It is possible to inadvertently skip over tour points on the Google Maps page. To make sure you see each stopping point look for a faint X usually in the picture's lower center area, which indicates where the next position is located.

Not only is the virtual tour available to the public, we also have 36 high resolution still photos for our own use. To see these photos, click the next link that follows.

Very soon, you will start to see the virtual tour and some of the high resolution photos on our public site and on our Facebook sites.  Yea oh Glory! ACC!
