Academic Antics is a core learning and enrichment program for homeschool families. This program, founded in 2010 by homeschool families in San Jose, CA, provides peer group learning opportunities to prepare students for high school, college, and life. We are a non-profit organization.
We have a little something for everyone! Clubs, Classes, Field Trips, and Workshops!
Academic Antics is a community started and run by homeschool parents, but with professional, qualified teachers whose love for working with kids shines through. We welcome all homeschool families to participate in the ways that serve you best -- through classes, field trips, short-term workshops, clubs, and more. We invite you to participate on your own terms -- some families join us only for field trips or a single class. Others are an integral part of most things we do.

Note: we also have comfortable spaces for parents and siblings to hang out while a family member is in a class.
Interested in clubs? We have a Minecraft club (starting mid-September), a girl scout multi-level homeschool troop, and organize a monthly homeschool game night All are welcome! Also coming soon: Lego club, Tween Girl's Club, and Open Dictionary Scrabble club.
Interested in short-term workshops? Susan Miller is teaching a Persuasive Writing workshop to help prepare students for this year's writing task. We will be scheduling several more in a variety of subjects. She'll also be doing short-term workshops on Essay and Creative Writing. Interested in Math Workshops? Have a request? Let us know!
Interested in a-g approved classes? Please let us know which ones! Currently we get our novel list approved to support a-g and are considering adding approved a-g labs, but we need to know if there's enough interest to open a lab class.
Interested in something else? Let us know! Fill out our suggestion form with your ideas.
Yes, Academic Antics is an approved vendor for Ocean Grove Charter School and Connecting Waters. We are an inclusive program and welcome homeschool students from other programs (or PSA families) as well. We're happy to submit paperwork to apply for other charter schools if a family requests.
Is there a class you’d like to see offered that isn’t listed? Send me an email and/or teacher recommendation and we’ll look into that for the future.
If you’d like to help guide our future development, join our SJco-op yahoo group by sending an email to SJcofirstname.lastname@example.org – that’s where we ask for parent input for the programs we develop (some of you are already here ./wave!)
Thank You to all of our families who help create such a wonderful community!
