Two of our schools that are implementing the Academic Achievement Framework were highlighted by Edvestors and selected as 2012 Schools on the Move finalists. The schools selected are making significant progress toward closing the achievement gaps for all students.
The Joseph J. Hurley K–8 School, one of only five Spanish-English Two-Way Immersion schools in the Boston Public Schools, uses creative scheduling with the thoughtful use of data to allow for an intervention block each day for re-teaching complex content or the development of oral language skills.
At the Charles Sumner Elementary School, teachers and administrators take a strategic approach to using data to flexibly group students based on specific learning needs and to build among teachers a sense of ownership for all students.
We congratulate the Joseph J. Hurley K–8 School and the Charles Sumner Elementary School for their achievement!
