18/52 - Where's my phone?
18/52 - Where's my phone?
My friend Jon left his cell phone on the roof of his car and drove from Poquoson to Hampton without even noticing it was gone. Now Jon’s cell phone is imperative because he is a network manager for a large firm in our area. Either BlackBerrys are quite heavy or someone was looking out for Jon. Personally, I could care less for cell phones. Yes they are convenient when you need them, but they tend to eliminate a sense of personal privacy. Sometimes you just want to take a break from everything else, but your little friend in your pocket starts to ring or buzz right before you do just that. With that said, I have compiled a short list of cell phone annoyances. Feel free to add yours. 1. Why is it that every woman who is driving in a car alone on a cell phone? 2. Are cell phones becoming even bigger? 3. Aren’t personal ringtones the most annoying thing? 4. With all of the technological advances we have added to cell phones, why do the cameras still suck? 5. Why do people get upset when you press ignore when they call?
{Secret 10} Turn That Off!!!
{Secret 10} Turn That Off!!!
For the [almost] 3 years [in June] that I've had this phone, I haven't gone more than a day with the ringtone on. I must always have it on vibrate. Because: 1. Ringing phones are annoying. 2. I hate people knowing I have someone calling me, that way I can ignore it discreetly. 3. I can still know if someone's calling me, without it making much if any noise- except to maybe the person next to me. 4. I'd rather "feel" it ring, than have it ring, and have it be too loud for me to hear it at all.

Don't You Just Hate That?: 738 Annoying Things
Don't you just hate when you hold the ketchup bottle over your French fries and the first thing that comes out is red water? People who think soy is the solution to all health problems? The fact that Barry Manilow didn't write his hit song, "I Write the Songs"?

Almost as if in answer to Barbara Ann Kipfer's 14,000 Things to Be Happy About (over 1 million copies in print) and its legion of sunny readers, Scott Cohen has compiled an obsessive, hilarious compendium of life's irritations--the myriad little annoyances, vexations, injustices, and petty pretensions that make any sane person cringe. Of course, this is more than snippy waiters or rude drivers who cut you off. It is a finely honed selection of 738 exasperating things, people, situations, complaints, and attitudes that everyone who's ever had a bad day can appreciate. And which will make us all feel better, just because we know someone else is paying attention--at last. Talk about annoying:

Yoga instructors who smoke.

Pets that only show affection right before mealtime.

Tipping someone who hasn't earned it only because you don't want to look cheap.

Late fees for a video you didn't have time to watch.

The second-to-last day of a two-week vacation.

A sneeze that lingers in your nose, doesn't come out, and then is absorbed by your forehead.

When your Cracker Jack has melted into one big Jack.

When your doctor asks if you mind if an intern watches your colonoscopy.
