  • LC noise filter placed in the 50Hz or 60Hz AC power line. Coilers use them between the power supply and the wall outlet to keep Tesla coil hash from getting into the household power lines.
  • A line filter is the kind of electronic filter that is placed between an electronic equipment and a line external to it, to attenuate conducted radio frequencies -- RFI, also known as electromagnetic interference (EMI) -- between the line and the equipment.
  • A device used to suppress noise in a transmission line or cable, caused by electromagnetic interference.EMI is produced by nearby power lines, motors, generators, and other sources.
  • (phonetics) an individual sound unit of speech without concern as to whether or not it is a phoneme of some language
  • A speech sound; the smallest discrete segment of sound in a stream of speech
  • call: get or try to get into communication (with someone) by telephone; "I tried to call you all night"; "Take two aspirin and call me in the morning"
  • telephone: electronic equipment that converts sound into electrical signals that can be transmitted over distances and then converts received signals back into sounds; "I talked to him on the telephone"
  • (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) -- A method for moving data over regular phone lines. An ADSL circuit is much faster than a regular phone connection, and the wires coming into the subscriber's premises are the same (copper) wires used for regular phone service.
  • Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is one form of the Digital Subscriber Line technology, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional voiceband modem can provide.
  • Asynchronous (or asymmetric) digital subscriber line, a method of routing digital data on copper telephone wires, allowing high-speed Internet access and simultaneous use of the line for voice transmission
  • (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) A special type of DSL line where the upload speed is different from the download speed.

ADSL Splitter & Filter for Phone & Modem Lines
ADSL Splitter & Filter for Phone & Modem Lines
When using a DSL connection with a telephone or fax machine, it's necessary to put a filter on the line to separate the signals for the modem (higher-frequency ADSL) from the signals for the phone & fax (lower-frequency POTS). Each phone or connection in the house will need a filter.
This filter/splitter has three RJ11 jacks to do just that. Connect the 'line' jack to your wall outlet cable, and connect the 'phone' and 'modem' jacks to your phone or fax line, and to the modem. Each jack is conveniently labeled.
Signal quality is preserved and your connections stay clear of static and noise from interference.

embracing the lines
embracing the lines
So today was incredibly busy for me and shoot time was VERY limited. I was able to get this shot (only got one other good one) while on the way to get some supper tonight. I was in Prattville and took advantage of a particularly high point for the wide view behind this scene. The wide-open view that I wanted (which features the Montgomery skyline) was way cloudier, and it just wasn't pretty. ::makes mental notes about site:: I'll revisit it since it's pretty much the only high point that I know of that I can easily get to on any given day. Anyone know any others?? :) My rode with me and we were discussing how the power lines are literally everywhere. There are so many beautiful open spaces around here and all of them include power lines somewhere in it. So, why not embrace them? I moved until I framed the second smaller power line at about the same height as the small cloud at the bottom. I used my L glass (70-200) with a cokin nd filter. I then applied a split-tone to the image. I don't think power lines are necessarily bad now... Maybe more to come?? 1/500sec@f/8 ISO200 FL:70mm 12-3049
Lightning strike
Lightning strike
This is the inside of my UPS, which has a protection for the phone line, too. I got a lightning on the ADSL line. The resistor in the middle anticipated the July 4th fireworks, saving the router and the computer. See the full size image for a better view.
