Our prediction that the amino acid residues at codons 266 and 268 are directly involved in the recognition and binding of the sugar portion of donor nucleotide-sugar substrate in the transferase reaction, whereas the amino acid residue at codon 176 is far from the site and the amino acid residue at codon 235 is in-between, was later proven correct by the plotting of the 3-D structure of crystallized human A transferase by others (Patenaude et al., 2002).
