24. Transfection Results (A-B Transferase Chimeras --AA)


Next, we examined the effects of 4 amino acid substitutions that discriminated A and B transferases. For this purpose, we constructed 14 chimeras that possessed amino acid residues of either A or B transferases at the same four locations; R/G, G/S, L/M, and G/A at codons 176, 235, 266, and 268 (Yamamoto and Hakomori, 1990). The results are summarized as follows. When the last two amino acids of the 4 amino acid substitutions were L and G of A transferase, the constructs specified the expression of A antigens only.
