persistence of memory

things insufficiently ephemeral for my blog

  • You can open the Java console in Firefox by opening the javascript console, typing the following, and hitting "Evaluate":
  • You can download my view link source firefox extension. If you really trust me, you can even try installing it. Unfortunately, not from here, since Trogdor won't let me set the MIME type. I guess you can install it if I link directly to my box.
  • The odds are quite near zero that you're interested in my perl implementation of Hofstadter's Typographical Number Theory, even though it contains my 1,891-line proof of the infinitude of primes.
  • I guess I might as well mirror some footage of me on the Vomit Comet, though it seems I must split the file into two parts for uploading.  I've tried uploading it to Google Video, with limited success.
  • The shortest self-printing ruby program I was able to come up with is {eval s="print 'eval s=';p s"\n}.
  • Love CookieButton but hate the mouse?  Use KeyConfig and add this magic incantation:
    /* CODE */ var pm = Components.classes[";1"].getService( Components.interfaces.nsIPermissionManager); var uri = getBrowser().mCurrentBrowser.currentURI; var oldPerm = pm.testPermission(uri, "cookie"); pm.remove(uri, "cookie"); switch(oldPerm) { case pm.ALLOW_ACTION: case 8: pm.add(uri, "cookie", pm.DENY_ACTION); break; case pm.DENY_ACTION: default: pm.add(uri, "cookie", pm.ALLOW_ACTION); }
  • If in trying to compile Debian's 2.6.8-2-686 kernel you get an error message like "scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:91: error: static declaration of 'current_menu' follows non-static declaration" , it may mean that your version of gcc is too new.  You can change HOSTCC to gcc-3.4 in the Makefile, or you can just cd /usr/bin && sudo ln -sf gcc-3.4 gcc.
