Her name Abigail means “Joy of the Father” but for 35 years she lived in a pit of despair, was driven by rejection, fuelled by rage, bitterness and hatred. Abigail was on a collision course with hell. But God by His Grace redeemed her life from the slimy pit of despair and set her on a journey of healing and restoration as her hope was restored.
Abigail’s heart’s desire is to see every broken life healed and restored, and for people to fully experience the lavish love, grace and mercy of God Our Heavenly Father.
In loving memory of
Born on 30 April 1951, to Clarence and Mariana Dorothy Ramos Neilson, your journey through life took you along many hard and thorny paths, including, but not limited to domestic violence, from which you had the courage to walk away, in an era when being a single parent was frowned upon by society. But you persevered to the end and ran your race with grace in the midst of every hardship you faced. We have no doubt that you heard the words “well done, My good and faithful servant” when you reached eternity’s shores and looked upon the beautiful Face of Jesus.
Your mission on this earth was accomplished when you handed over your baton of faith to me, five years before God called you home on 19 July 2009. Mommy, thank you for never giving up on me when I was on the broad pathway of destruction. Thank you for all the prayers you prayed for me while you were on earth. The Lord has honoured the prayers you prayed, including one of the last prayers you prayed before He called you home: Psalm 27:4 “I have asked one thing of the Lord: it is what I desire, to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple”.
I am living out your last message to us: 1 Corinthians 16:13: Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong. I love you, Mommy, and look forward to seeing you in Heaven on that Glorious Day.
Psalm 40New International Version (NIV)
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
4 Blessed is the one
who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.[b]
5 Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—
but my ears you have opened[c]—
burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.[e]
8 I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart.”
9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips, Lord,
as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
from the great assembly.
11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.
14 May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”
17 But as for me, I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.
Indiegogo Crowd Funding Campaign - Live And In Need Of Your Support Please!
Greetings from Cape Town!
We trust that you are well and blessed and that the joy of the Lord continues to be your strength!
I have some exciting news to share with you! Since the end of October 2016, we have been hard at work, putting together a Crowd Funding Campaign on the Indiegogo platform, which includes a video presentation! The aim of the campaign is to get my book "Abigail Neilson: From the Pit to the Palace - A Story of Redemption" published internationally through WestBow Press, a Division of Thomas Nelson.
I believe that in due course, this platform will propel me into a fulltime writing and public speaking career! It will enable me to use the gifts and talents, which God has placed in me before the foundation of the world, for His Glory! Did you know that one of the richest places on earth is the graveyard? Because multitudes of people die and are buried without using their God given gifts and talents!
The idea came about after I read the book "Put Your Dream To The Test" by John C Maxwell. I decided that if God is leading me in this direction, He has already prepared everything and I need only trust and obey!
Below is the link to the Indiegogo Campaign. Please will you help me by funding the campaign? Your contribution (big or small) will go a long way towards helping me reach my goal. In return for your generosity, I will send you an eBook at the end of the campaign after I have received the funds from Indiegogo. The campaign ends mid January 2017, so we essentially only have two weeks left to raise the funds!
Your support and help with sharing this campaign on your social media pages, with friends and family, and encouraging them to fund my campaign, will be much appreciated and very helpful in terms of me reaching my goal.
Thank you so much and I look forward to updating you soon!
Praying God's blessings over you and your loved as we come to the end 2016, and walk in the fullness of Jesus Christ in 2017 and beyond! Numbers 6 vs. 24-26 & Psalm 20 & 91.

you wrote in the front of my book. With much love xx Sheelagh
Dear Ms Neilson I have
written to you to commend you on your bookl "From the pit to the
palace". I'm very hard to please when it comes to books but your story
definitely left a permanent impression on my soul. I'm definitely more
religious than I am spiritual! Because you reflect a true follower of Jesus
Christ. I loved your story and, may I add, envy your conviction and overall
trust of God's word. Maybe one day my direction, not intention, will determine
my destination which is supposedly in the palace. Thank you. Yours truly Siphosethu
Hi Abi, So I have read your book! Thank you so much for giving it to me. You have done such a great job! I have included the review I wrote for your book…
Anyway, here’s the review!
‘I found this book hard
to put down. Abigail’s openness and honesty truly shows how God can transform a
life. Even in a life filled with pain, God can bring redemption and healing.
You cannot read this story that Abigail tells without being heartbroken. But it
doesn’t end there; hope is brought into the story as she tells of her journey
with God. What an incredible witness to
the power of an awesome God!’ Katherine
I just finished reading your e-book. Thank you so much for sending it to me. I will try to write my review before long. Initial response: well done. A courageous account of a life filled with so much pain, abuse, dysfunction and deep seated anger and how God specializes in redemption! Thank you. Barb
Rae Leeman, my friend and sister in Christ and fellow prayer warriors, thank you for proof reading, for your support and ministry to the cause of Christ.
Lynette Matthews (described in the book as the "lady in the yellow car") you are always remembered with eternal gratitude when I read James 5: 19-20.
