About Myself

I am a commoner in the crowd. I am a life long student of mechanics and mathematics. 

I was born and brought up in Kolkata, India. Presently, I am a faculty at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras. I teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering. I guide research students (Ph.D and M. S) towards their research dissertation. 

I am married to Amrita. We have a son - Abhilash. We live in the idyllic IIT Madras Campus at Chennai. 

I am a foodie. I love eating out and trying different types of cuisines. I love playing with my son and swimming. 

My Brief Resume

I completed my schooling from Don Bosco Liluah in 1996. Thereafter, I studied B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) at Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri. After completion of B. E. in 2000, I pursued M. Sc (Engg.) at the  Department of Mechanical Engineering,   Indian Institute of Science Bangalore from 2000 to 2002. I carried on my M.Sc (Engg) research work under the joint supervision of Prof. Rudra Pratap and Prof. V. R. Sonti. In the year 2003, I worked in the NVH Division of the Engineering Research Center at Tata Motors Pune. From 2004 to 2009, I was back at Indian Institute of Science Bangalore pursuing my Ph.D on Vibro-acoustics under the guidance of Prof. V. R. Sonti. On completion of my Ph.D in 2009, I worked for Eaton Technologies, Pune for a year. Since 2010, I am working as a faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Presently, I am an Associate Professor.
