Aberdeenshire School Holidays
- School holidays (also referred to as vacations, breaks and recess) are the periods during which schools are closed for study. The dates and periods of school holidays vary considerably throughout the world, and there is usually some variation even within the same jurisdiction.
- Aberdeenshire or the County of Aberdeen (Coontie o Aiberdeen, Siorrachd Obar Dheathain) is a registration county of Scotland. This area (excluding Aberdeen itself) is also a lieutenancy area.
- The Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, is the British monarch's personal representative in an area consisting of the county of Aberdeen as it existed immediately prior to abolition for local government purposes by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 except that part within Aberdeen City.
- Aberdeenshire was a Scottish county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1800 and of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 until 1868. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP).

The start of the summer that never came.
(Another shot in comments) Clearing out the hard drive I came upon this shot of Yvonne and friends playing our version of croquet. Taken later in the evening when the sun had just popped behind the house. It was the first day of the school summer holidays and what we didn't know then was that this would be the last of the decent, warm sunny weather. For the next 6 weeks the weather was at best changeable, but essentially, there were precious few days without rain and wind. Now the schools have had their first week back, it seems many feel cheated out of a summer. Is this what summers of the future are to be like - wet and windy? I hope not. We may need to re-think our summer breaks.
Project 365 - day 73/365 It was a local holiday here on Friday and the schools were closed. J and I went for a walk with some friends and ended up with some swimming/some paddling in the River Don. The water was COLD but it didn't stop the fun.
