Business Studies with Sport and Recreation Options

 

Learners will gain an understanding of the historical development of sport and recreation.  Have an understanding on how the human body works when engaged in exercise through the study of human anatomy and physiology and the relationship between an active healthy lifestyle and general health and well being.

Eligibility:

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied qualifications.   The Leaving Certificate is not a requirement for mature students who wish to return to full-time education.


 

Certification:

The course is certified by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (F.E.T.A.C).

 

Further Education:

Graduates may use their qualification to apply for a place in any of the Higher Education Institutes through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

 

Course Duration:

September – May

 

Charges:

Learners are required to pay €200 (Budget 2011) contribution. Medical Card holders and students eligible for Student Grant Scheme or Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) are exempt from this payment.  Learners must provide evidence of eligibility.    

Maintenance grants available for eligible students.  Application forms are available from your local V.E.C. Office in July/August.   A Back to Education Allowance is also available to eligible students.  Students with medical cards are exempt from examination fees.
