Detroit:Half the city is not paying property taxes. Which half are you?

The situation the city of Detroit is in has developed over decades not years.

There are times in life when tectonic shifts happen, when the pot boils over, a tipping point, a time when something just has to give.

That time is upon us here in Detroit.

The city has not developed a viable solution to the property tax issue. A solution is coming. What will it be?

This situation has already caused a well known work-around, don't pay for three years and buy back at a fraction when annual Wayne County auction rolls around. (at least this is what I've heard)

Eventhough Wayne County and the Auctioneer have "tried" to put rules and regulations in place to thwart those attempts it is still very often the solution of choice.

Whatever your thoughts on it are, right or wrong, it is what has come from the lack of a viable solution by city leadership.

( it's obvious where the brainpower and creativity lies to solve problems, especially cashflow problems, in the streets and in the minds of citizens, neighbors and investors alike)

My point is that something HAS TO HAPPEN and the time is upon us. Half of Detroit property owners don't pay taxes | The Detroit News |
