This is a repost of last week since no one turned it in before the break, good luck!   Mrs. Richards is having one big birthday party for all seven grandchildren because each celebrates a birthday in the same month. She arranged candles in combinations that show each grandchild's age. Each candle figure represents a certain number of years. The youngest grandchild will be 2 on this birthday. Louis and Paul are twins. They will be 9. Marley and Keith are a year apart. We know the following about the grandchildren's ages.       How old will each of the grandchildren be on this birthday?

The diagram above shows the floor plan for the eight apartments on the first floor where Carl and Zoë live in separate apartments. Each floor has the same floor plan. There are eight apartments on every floor. The apartments in the building are numbered from 1 to 32. On every floor, each apartment has another apartment whose floor plan is its mirror image. For example, Apartment 8 is the mirror image of Apartment 3. On the second floor, Apartment 9 is directly over Apartment 1, Apartment 10 is directly over Apartment 2, and so forth. Carl lives in apartment 4. Zoë lives on the third floor in the apartment that is the mirror image of Carl's apartment. QuestionWhat is Zoë's apartment number?

Week of August 16 - 20                                             Tamara, Damien, Randy, and Kim want to donate money to a charity. They each brought money to school in an envelope, but forgot to put his or her name on the envelope. Use the clues to see how much money each person brought. Tamara brought the most money. Damien's envelope has the least money. Randy has the most dimes. Kim has more money than Randy. How much money did each person bring?

Enjoy Math? Me too, here's your chance to prove it!

Each week I will add a new BrainBuster below.  You have the chance to solve the problem (on your own please) and fill out the Brain Buster sheet you can receive either in class or under the Forms and Docs link for a chance to win!  You need to show or explain your work to receive credit for it.  Each week an attempt will count as one entry, while a correct answer counts as two entries.  You can check with me in the morning before school and I will tell you if it is correct.
