Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions

1.Installation Work:

(a) All electrical installation work will comply with BS7671:2008(2011) and any amendments in force at the time of the works.
(b) The customer understands that no certification can be given, therefore additions to old circuits and installation of new circuits cannot be done.
(c) Where carpet or floor coverings require lifting, best endeavours will be made to avoid damage and to refit to an acceptable standard. However, employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, to effect a fully satisfactory reinstatement.
(d) Unless agreed before hand, chases to walls, etc will be left un-filled. Final finishing of skim coat plaster and final decoration is excluded.
(e) AAJ Electrical Services will endeavour to undertake installation work to a clean standard. However, some additional vacuuming and cleaning down of surfaces should be expected afterwards. Any equipment susceptible to damage from dust (eg video or computer equipment) should be removed from the work area prior to AAJ Electrical Services’ arrival as no responsibility will be taken.

(f) Any risks of damage to customer property from activities such as (but not limited to) chasing of walls, drilling etc, will be discussed with the customer prior to such activities taking place. If works are agreed by the customer, any damage caused is the customer’s sole responsibility and not that of AAJ Electrical Services.

(g) Should variations be necessary and the client not available, whilst work is carried out in conjunction with other tradesmen, the work will be carried out in the manner considered best to solve the problems and this will be chargeable unless this has been expressly forbidden by the client in writing.

2.New Consumer Units:

(a) Installation of new consumer units (fuse board) is subject to the whole installation being tested to ensure it is safe to be connected to a new consumer unit. This is a legal requirement under Part P Building Regulations. The basic cost for this is included in the installation cost.
(b) Any faults found during the above testing which are deemed unsafe, must be rectified prior to that circuit being reconnected to any new consumer unit. Any costs for such work are not included. Such issues will be brought to the customer’s attention as soon as is practical during works.
(c) In particular it may be necessary to install new main services bonding to water, gas or oil supplies. This is especially common on properties built during or prior to the early 1970s and again these are at additional cost unless agreed otherwise beforehand.

3.Exclusions:

(a) Whilst we try to be as helpful as possible and will generally do some limited moving to create access, the clearing and / or moving of furniture and other items blocking access to work areas are not included within the quote.
(b) Whilst AAJ Electrical Services will try and ensure that electrical items are plugged back in and in working order before we leave the premises, we will not be held responsible for any losses due to any electrical item not being plugged back in and / or switched on.
(c) Removal from site and disposal of rubble, materials, general waste and packaging is not included. AAJ Electrical Services may, at their discretion, remove old fittings and wiring for responsible disposal.

4.Pricing:

(a) Estimated costs assume continuous and unhindered access to the site by prior arrangement with the customer.
(b) Unless stated otherwise, the costs quoted assume standard working hours between 07:30hrs – 17:30hrs Monday to Friday inclusive. Work required by the customer outside these hours may attract premium rates although we will try and be flexible.

(c) Any hourly rates specified exclude material costs, parking fees and other factors such as road tolls.

(d) Should physical sourcing/collection of items be necessary, this time may be charged as part of the hourly rates.
(d) Additional work not covered in stated costs will attract an additional charge plus materials.
(e) Estimates are valid for 7 days from the date of the estimate.

(f) Any additional time spent to that agreed by AAJ Electrical Services due to suspension or cancellation of work at the request of the customer, or lack of access, instruction or other on-site delay (e.g. customer late for an agreed time) caused by matters beyond the control of AAJ Electrical Services, will incur additional charges to the customer at the discretion of AAJ Electrical Services.

5.Risk and Title of Goods:

(a) The risk in all goods supplied shall pass to the Customer upon delivery.
(b) All goods supplied shall remain the property of AAJ Electrical Services until all sums due have been paid in full. If payment in full is refused, AAJ Electrical Services will remove such goods from the property. Any certification or warranty will then be void. Following this, any reinstallation of such goods as requested by the customer will incur additional labour fees.

6.Warranty:

(a) AAJ Electrical Services warrants its installation work to be defect free at the time of testing. Cover or certification does not extend to goods supplied by others, physical damage, wilful misuse or instances where the installation has been altered or tampered with by third parties. The warranty also excludes fair wear and tear, lamps, fuses or other consumables.
(b) Where projects involve works by third party trades, any damage to the electrical installation by third parties shall remain the responsibility of the Customer. Any rectification costs must be paid by the Customer prior to commencement of second fix. Recovery of such costs from any third party shall be the Customers responsibility.
(c) In the case of any security alarms fitted by AAJ Electrical Services the request of the engineer code will void any warranty.

7.Payment:

(a) Unless agreed in writing, payment in full should be made on completion of the specified works, to AAJ Electrical Services.
(b) Larger projects may require a non-refundable deposit before work, as stated in estimate (if applicable)
(c) Where projects involve separate first and second fix works, part payment may be due on completion of first fix (see quote for more details)
(d) Payment is accepted by cash, or in certain cases by bank transfer.
(e) In the event of any non payment AAJ Electrical Services reserve the right to withhold any certificates for work carried out until such payments are made.

(f) AAJ Electrical Services is not a VAT registered company; therefore no VAT is added to the final bill.
