Malaysia Airlines announced in 2015 that it would lease 4 A350-900s from Air Lease Corporation and later signed an agreement for 2 more aircraft. Being a part of MH's restructuration plan, the twinjets are supposed to replace the carrier's 6 A380-800s from Q1-2018 on the Kuala Lumpur-London route (2x daily). The four-engined jets will be moved to a separate entity dedicated to charters, justifying the need for the A350s to continue to operate to London. The A350s will, just as the A380s, feature a first class - MH is the 1st carrier to offer a first class on board the A350XWB

As Malaysia Airlines continues its restructuration and tries to make long-haul routes more profitable, the A350-900 will be a core factor in its financial turnaround. The carrier will most probably order more aircraft, as it looks to resume services to several European and North American cities.
