A350s in fleet: 6 (B-LGA, B-LGB, B-LGC, B-LGD, B-LGE, B-LGH)

1st A350 delivery: 31/08/2017

Hong Kong Airlines ordered 15 A350-900s in 2010 at Farnborough Airshow, alongside with 10 A330s. In plus, it took over leases at AerCap for 3 A350-900s originally ordered by brazilian carrier Azul, which opted to not take delivery of the aircraft due to the ongoing financial crisis in South America. Hong Kong Airlines, as a part of the chinese HNA Group, will have the same configuration than Beijing Capital Airlines for example, to keep the fleet commonality high. The all-new A350 will permit the young airline to open new routes and expand internationally. In that matter, HK Airlines will open a new route from Hong Kong to Los Angeles in late Q4-2017 with its all-new A350XWB.

We think that Airbus' newest wide-body will fit the chinese carrier perfectly as it is driven by exponential growth in its home city Hong Kong. It is likely that HNA will allocate/order more A350s for its Hong Kong-based airline, as the A350 is a very versatile aircraft.
