Air China ordered 10 A350-900s in 2010, as part of a bigger chinese order for 102 Airbus planes. The first delivery will happen in 2017, and CA will probably be the second chinese operator of the A359 after Beijing Capital Airlines. The A350 will then join the currently very diverse Air China long-haul fleet and fly to Europe and North America essentially. Considering the huge domestic chinese market, the A350 Regional may also make sense for CCA.
Keeping in mind that Air China has a very big fleet of A330s, it is safe to say that the A350 will form a big part of Air China's future long-haul fleet, even though the current order is relatively small. The chinese flag carrier might lease more A350s from China Aviation Service Company (CAS) which has an order for 40 A350.
