Lark Popov
- piano

Lark Popov has performed primarily as one half of

the piano duo – Popov and Vona  with her husband,

George Vona.

They are known for their evocative and exciting

performances of music for two pianos ranging from

Bach to Bernstein.

After their  New York recital debut, they were

praised by the New York Times for their fine sense

of pianistic colour and their lively and involving

interpretations.

They have performed in the United States, Canada,

Spain, Italy, Hungary and England. Among their

performances were appearances with the Hartford

Symphony, The Banff Festival of the Arts, the

Metropolitan Opera Gala Ball, the American Liszt

Society, the Franz Liszt Memorial Library in Budapest

and the Vancouver New Music Festival.

Their second CD, The Book of Mirrors, which they

designed and produced, was nominated for a JUNO

award.  The recording is a collection of recently

composed works for two pianos and percussion by

Canadian composers which range in style from Latin

jazz to German Industrial music.  The recording is

accompanied by an interactive multimedia CD-ROM

which features video clips, interviews with the

composers, stunning graphics, and many interactive

demonstrations of the concepts and influences at

work in the pieces.

When she is not performing with George, Lark also

performs a variety of chamber and vocal works,

teaches and sings in the choir of Christ Church Deer

Park.
