Alford + Bute area in South Australia
See how dry (and flat!) this area is on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. Image taken from our flight to Singapore - Tuesday Nov 25. Weather for today (Sunday 30th) in Alford is: a sunny 27 deg C with the humidity at 9%. Alford, SA About 20 kilometres north of Kadina - the Yorke Peninsula’s largest town - Alford is a small village to the north of South Australia’s ‘Little Cornwall,’ which is framed in a triangle formed by Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta. The heritage is celebrated in Kadina in May in every odd calendar year with Kernewek Lowender - the world’s largest festival of Cornish food, song and music. Kadina also boasts the multiple award-winning Banking & Currency Museum, which houses a rare collection of coins, notes and minting and banking memorabilia. Bute 142km from Adelaide - Population 597 The town of Bute is located in the northern Yorke Peninsula, approximately 40 kilometres east of Wallaroo and 24 kilometres west of Snowtown. It was proclaimed as a town in 1884 and named after the Isle of Bute, in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. The town is surrounded by agricultural and pastoral land. A service centre for the surrounding agricultural industry, Bute is the perfect place for travellers to take a break. The Bute tourist train arrives around lunchtime during scheduled runs, there's a gallery in the old police station and a fauna park on the edge of town.
