Al Anderegg hasn't written up his memories in a book, but he says that perhaps the best book to get an idea about what life was like in Stalag Luft III is the out-of-print book (but still available in libraries) POW Odyssey: Recollections of Center Compound, Stalag Luft III and the Secret German Peace Mission in World War II by Major General Delmar T. Spivey, USAF. Additional Bibliography: Snetterton Falcons (Unit book about the 96th BG), Clipped Wings (POW book with photos by the camp's official photographer), Red Tail Captured, Red Tail Free (POW book, author lived in the same barracks as Al), The Longest Mission (a well done publication with photos). Al gave a videotaped presentation to the Rochester WWII History Round Table and a 2011 8th AFHS-Mn Luncheon.
Larry Bachman was interviewed on Al Malmberg's "World of Aviation" program on WCCO radio. These interviews are supposed to be available for free on ITunes, but I have never been able to successfully download them. Larry Bachman also appeared on a DVD along with Vince Parker, Bob Clemens, Junior H. Gossell, and Earl Joswick, which Dick Hill has a copy of. It was shown at the December 26, 2010 luncheon. Jack Christopher has an excellent chapter devoted to his experiences in War Stories 2, by Al Zdon. Text and photos. He also is on DVD for a World War II History Round Table presentation. Copies of WWII Round Table DVDs can be purchased for $10 through their website. Jack is also on the American Legion website under his own webpage and through the general link War Stories.
Bloomington Sun Current published an article on March 1, 2013 about the 8th AFHS-Mn and interviewed several members.
Bob Clemens has some of his stories on the Minnesota Historical Society website "Minnesota's Greatest Generation" and the main 8th AFHS website under "Our Stories." Bob is the subject of a chapter in the book The Greatest Generation of Silver Wings by Don Ward (2008; 2nd ed.) The Memorial Press. ISBN 0-9654964-0-8. (pp. 197-200). A transcript of his video presentation appears elsewhere on this website. Bob was also featured in a StarTribune article entitled: "Continued: Decades after WW II bombing he receives apology." Bob says he didn't really apologize to the Hungarian. That was added by the reporter.
Clifford Digre, wrote a comprehensive and interesting book about his wartime experiences, based on a diary and other documents he kept, called Into Life's School. He has a website.

Calvin Garrison wrote a well written, unpublished, 93 page account, in his own hand shortly after his liberation describing his time in service including his time as a POW.
Junior H. Gossell appears on a DVD shown by Dick Hill at the meeting on 12-29-2010. The transcript is on the Home page of this website under Attachments. Dick Heyne self-produced his own artistic and hand lettered "scrapbook" with photos and missions, which his daughter Lee said his children referred to as "The Bible" when growing up. A transcript and Audio file of his presentation to the 8th AFHS-Mn is available on this website.
Frank Linc was interviewed by Thomas Saylor and appears in Long Hard Road: American POWs During World War II (2007 MHS) pp. 23-24, 45-46, 62, 63, 212-13, 273. Frank has an extensive transcript from that interview.
M.A. "Spook" Johns is featured in a recently published 2010 book about Dieter Dengler entitled Hero Found: The Greatest POW Escape of the Vietnam War . It is available at Borders Books and Barnes and Noble or at Amazon Books. He is also portrayed in the 2007 movie Rescue Dawn, now on DVD, by actor, Toby Huss. Clinton B. Johnson owns many outstanding books produced by his squadron, bomb wing, bomb group and the Twentieth Air Force. Ted Murphy is on DVD for a World War II History Roundtable presentation. WWII Roundtable presentations like Ted's are usually written up and posted on the American legion's website by Al Zdon who has used them to produce the books War Stories and War Stories 2. Ray Peterson, Ray was interviewed both by Al Malmberg on WCCO Radio's "World of Aviation" Program about his wartime experiences (32 min.s) (A free ITunes download) and Jon Cermin on video (March 3, 2004 Running time: 29:00) for the Combat Aircrews' Preservation Society project. Ray is also a regular attendee of the weekly 8th AFHS-Mn luncheons where he tells about his experiences.

Elizabeth "Liz" Strohfus ("Betty" Wall back in 1944), Women's Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) Pilot & Co-pilot. Liz was interviewed about her extensive career in aviation by Al Malmberg on Thunderbird Aviation's World of Aviation podcast. She flew the B-17, B-26, P-39, AT-6, and F-16. She was at the Las Vegas Gunnery School in 1944 and among other things flew and towed the targets! There is an excellent chapter about Liz in War Stories II by Al Zdon (2010). With the help of her son, Liz wrote an excellent autobiography about her life and experiences.

Thomas Saylor did an interview about his POW experiences, which is available online. There is a photo of Charles Woehrle and others at Stalag VII A, Moosberg, Germany at the 442nd Fighter Wing's website. The Mpls. Star Tribune May 24, 2009 also published an article and has a video on the web about his WWII experiences. There is a film project by Filmmaker Louise Woehrle entitled Stalag Luft III: One Man's Story about her Uncle Charles, which is described in detail on the IFP Minnesota Center for Media Arts website including online video interviews.
