Roger M. Grommesch, Gunner, 301st Bomb Group, 352nd Bomb Squadron.

Roger flew as a gunner on B-29s in Europe after WWII. According to the 301st's website "The 301st BG flew its first missions as part of the 8th AF in England. They were transferred to the newly created 12th AF and sent to North Africa in November of 1942. The 352nd BS, as with other squadrons of the 301st, began in England as units of the 8th AF, VIII Bomber Command. They were transferred to North Africa in December of 1942. When the 15th AAF was created they moved to Italy with the rest of the 301st Bomb Group." After WWII they flew B-29s in Europe.
 
 
Roger is well known for collecting and trading Air Force patches and he has a large collection, which he occasionally exhibits to the 8th AFHS-Mn. See the 8th AFHS-Mn June 2010 Newsletter. Page 9.

Roger was interviewed by Nathan Garcia for a high school history documentary about the B-29. He appears briefly several times in the documentary.

Grommesch, Roger M. age 85 a long time resident of Burnsville, MN passed away December 29, 2013. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, and 8 siblings. He survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Josephine; children, David (Sandy), Pam (Allan) Factor, Al (Jackie), Marc, and Marcia (Marty) Rhein; 10 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren; sister, Marie Daigle; step-sister, Agnes Swiger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 AM Monday, January 6, 2014 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4625 W 125th St., Savage, MN with visitation from 3-7 PM Sunday (1/5) at the White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave S, Burnsville (952-894-5080) and 1 hr. prior to Mass at church.
