  • (T Shirt (album)) T Shirt is a 1976 album by Loudon Wainwright III. Unlike his earlier records, this (and the subsequent 'Final Exam') saw Wainwright adopt a full blown rock band (Slowtrain) - though there are acoustic songs on T-Shirt, including a talking blues.

Live at the Bayou in Georgetown. I'm guessing 1989 or 1990. Pantera played that night with local heroes Wrathchild America, with whom they were apparently quite good friends. If I remember right, Ugly Kid Joe opened the night; Wrathchild drummer Shannon Larkin later joined Ugly Kid Joe before, ultimately, joining Godsmack. In the late 80s, the bands that didn't quite fit the old 9:30 Club's style often played at The Bayou in Georgetown. It was a bigger space with a balcony overlooking the show space on three sides. They gave strong support to local bands, by all appearances. But it was the national acts that couldn't play anywhere else that leave the strongest memories. I saw my first Ramones show here. Prong played a mindnumbing set here with Flotsam and Jetsam as their opener. The list goes on.

Just in case there was any doubt lingering about what a fucking geektard I was when I was a teenager, I present this photo, recovered from the garage this weekend. I have not scanned the back side of this, which declares, "Hey Mon! Be excellent to each other!" and features a badly-drawn attempt to recreate the Batman insignia. I'm not sure what's worse: that I thought this was cool, or that someone who should have known better let me print this on a postcard to be sent out to just about anyone who sent a letter asking for an autographed picture. Goddamn was I awkward.
