This project is based entirely on Oregon State Standards for 7th grade. 

The expectation is that you will meet or exceed the 7th grade standards associated with this project.  Use the Standards Grading Sheet to keep track of your progress. 

 

RE.18  Summarizing

Exceeds =

summary uses appropriate word choice, information is relevant

Meets =

summary has clear, well chosen details

Nearly/Emerging =

summary leaves out important details

Does Not Meet =

unclear details, ideas not relevant



RE.26  Determine Type & Purpose of Organizational Structures

Exceeds =

organizational structure is identified and specifically explained

Meets =

organizational structure is identified

Nearly/Emerging =

structure mentioned is incorrect

Does Not Meet =

does not mention structure



RE.21  Infer Author's Meaning

Exceeds =

inference goes beyond what author has explicitly stated in the text, well supported

Meets =

inference is valid, links clearly with information from the text

Nearly/Emerging =

inference lacks a connection to information from the text, seems unclear

Does Not Meet =

no inference given, only direct information from the text



RE.03  Making Connections to Text

Exceeds =

connections include details from text and reader's own experience

Meets =

connections explained in a sentence

Nearly/Emerging =

connections are not clear, no details

Does Not Meet =

does not mention a connection

 


WR.11  Clear Thesis Statement

Exceeds =

thesis is very clear, relevant, incorporates main ideas

Meets =

thesis is evident

Nearly/Emerging =

no clear thesis

Does Not Meet =

off topic



WR.28  Research Report Skills

Exceeds =

multiple events sequenced correctly with support and strong evidence

Meets =

uses specific events, ideas from text, paraphrases multiple events correctly

Nearly/Emerging =

report is too general, not clear

Does Not Meet =

plagiarism, incorrect information
