5. Drumming Scores

We are a new pipe band (our first chanter classes were in 2009, and our first "full band" performance was in 2010).

We're also a training/teaching pipe band.  We want it to be easy for people to learn and for learners to participate as soon as possible in practices and performances...to gain experience and to enjoy just how cool it is to be performing in a pipe band.

Our approach is to use standard, massed band settings of both piping and drumming music, as a basis for our group.  Attached below are the standard settings for snare drumming from the Western United States Pipe Band Association.  The first setting to get down is the 4/4 snare (44snare.pdf) setting, followed by the 2/4 snare (24snare.pdf).

As our ensemble develops, we will have some drum scores that are "tune-specific."  For most parades and general performance situations, the standard massed band settings will serve well.
