AlmahBibletranslations

Bs'd

Here I have a few Bible translations, and all of them translate in Isaiah 7:14 "almah" as "virgin".  That is of course a mistake, because "almah" means "young woman", and not virgin.

But the word "almah" appears in the Hebrew Bible seven times, and let's look at those other instances, how it is translated there.

The translations I use are the New International Version 1984, (NIV 1984), the Todays New International Version, (TNIV), the New International Version United Kingdom, (NIV-UK), the New International Readers Version, (NIRV), Holmans Christian Standard Bible, (HCSB), the Darby Translation, the American Standard Version, (ASV) the 21th Century King James Version, (21th CKJV), Gods Word Translation, (GTW), the New Century Version, (NCV), the New King James Version, (NKJV), the Contemporary English Version, (CEV), the Englisch Standard Version, (ESV), the King James Version, (KJV), the New Living Translation, (NLT), the Amplified Bible, (AB), the New American Standard Bible, (NASB), and the New International Version 2011, (NIV 2011).

Here is how they translate the word "almah":

Isaiah 7:14 Gen 24:44 Ex 2:8 Psalm 68:25 Prov 30:19 Song of Songs 1:3 Song of Songs 6:8
NIV 1984 virgin maiden girl maidens maiden maidens virgins
NIV virgin young woman girl young women young woman young women virgins
NIV-UK virgin maiden girl maidens maiden maidens virgins
NIRV virgin young woman girl young women young woman young women virgins
HCSB virgin virgin girl young women young woman young women young women
Darby virgin damsel damsel maidens maid virgins virgins
ASV virgin maiden maiden damsels maiden virgins virgins
21th CKJV virgin virgin maid damsels maid virgins virgins
GWT virgin young woman girl young women virgin young women virgins
NCV virgin young woman girl girls woman young women girls
NKJV virgin virgin maiden maiden virgin virgins virgins
CEV virgin
young woman girl young women people young women others
ESV virgin virgin girl virgins virgin virgins virgins
KJV virgin virgin maid damsels maid virgins virgins
NLT virgin young woman girl young women woman young women young women
AB virgin maiden girl maidens maid maidens virgins
NASB virgin maiden girl maidens maid maidens maidens
NIV 2011 virgin young woman girl young woman young woman young women virgins

What we see here is that ALL of them translate "almah" in Isaiah 7:14 as "virgin, but for the rest of the 108 remaining times the word "almah" appears here, it is only 28 times translated as "virgin", the rest of the time, 80 times out of a 108 times, it is translated like "girl", "young woman", or something like that.

So that proves that the translators know very well what "almah" means.

It is only that translating it in the right way in Isaiah 7:14 does not fit the Christian agenda, and therefore the translation there is corrupted in order to be able to push JC in.
