These are pictures of my '92 Chevy Silverado that was totaled in Nov. 2007. The damage didn't look terribly severe and I drove it home that evening, but I didn't realize the extent of 'unseen' damage. The frame was twisted in 3 different directions, the drive shaft was driven into the transmission and the battery had been knocked over from its holder and was dripping acid onto the front wheel-well, front axle, and right-front brake. This was all caused by a 75 year old lady who never touched her brakes. I was slowed in the right lane of a 4-lane highway making a very sharp right hand turn. I never made it through the intersection when she nailed me. The solid steel bumper was bent under the bed of the truck, damaging the rear quarter-panel and knocking the spare tire out from mounting under the truck bed. The bed was driven into the cab, jamming the door, bending the rear of the cab, and shattering the rear window. The rear window was totally shattered, spraying broken glass into the cab. The amazing part is that I NEVER got cut despite having glass laying behind me and beside me on the seat, laying on the armrest and in the window track, and when I later lowered the sun-visor, glass fell from it, indicating the broken glass had flown over my head. I am grateful for the outstanding vehicle that this truck was and that it even got me home, back to work and to the shop before they did the autopsy and told me how bad she was. I am also thankful that someone was watching over my shoulder that day.......it could have been much worse. I miss 'Big Blue', even though she's been replaced by a new 2008 model.
